Look Look (2005)

Look Look is a choreographic exploration of the creative processes and representational codes of the fashion world. Conceived in the format of a fashion show, the piece examines how clothing, body, and image interact, and how meaning is produced through their constant transformation.

Developed in collaboration with designer Eva Blut, the work takes her garments as a starting point to investigate their performative potential. Through continuous dressing, undressing, and recombination, Anne Juren and Krõõt Juurak detach the clothes from their conventional function and reconfigure them into new, unexpected forms.

On an imagined catwalk, the performers adopt and shift between a series of poses and attitudes, exposing how the same garment generates different appearances depending on the body that wears it. The piece highlights subtle variations in posture, gesture, and presentation, revealing fashion as a system of codified behaviors as much as of objects.

As the performance unfolds, bodies and images continuously mutate: from stereotypical fashion figures to everyday postures, from clearly readable silhouettes to hybrid, unstable forms. Through this process, Look Look playfully questions notions of identity, representation, and authenticity, staging a fluid interplay between surface and construction, appearance and transformation.

Balancing formal precision with humor and understatement, the work exposes and subverts the aesthetic and social codes of the catwalk, turning fashion into a choreographic practice and choreography into a mode of display.
