Sensorial Transference (2022)

Sensorial Transference is a choreographic work by Anne Juren, premiered on July 28, 2022 at Volkstheater Vienna as part of ImPulsTanz. The piece takes the form of a performative session in which perception becomes a shared process. The audience is invited to take part in the bodily experience of a patient, following and sensing what unfolds in another body.

At the core of the work is the question of how sensations can be transmitted. Concepts such as transference, co regulation and the proxy body describe modes in which experience is shifted, mirrored and collectively negotiated. The piece continues Juren’s research into Fantasmical Anatomies, where imagination produces tangible bodily effects.

The setting is reduced and focused, situated between stage and treatment space. Watching and participating are closely intertwined, allowing choreography to emerge as a relational practice rather than a sequence of movements.
