2nd THURSDAYS #3

KATRIN PLAVCAK (DE)
April 11, 2018, 6pm at WTKB Studios.

It’s a bird… It´s a plane… It´s Katrin Plavcak. More than 10 years after the history making exhibition “Linke Hand und Rechte Hand” at “After the Butcher” in Berlin the Swiss army knife of contemporary art will honor the studio of WTKB with a spectacular 2nd Thursdays presentation. Teamed up again with Rauschmeier, Huge Paintings, Massive Sculptures and Enormous Graphics are minimized and transformed into a flee circus of mesmerizing and precious objects of joy and content and other forms of representational things displayed in a display description of what it wants to say itself.

2nd THURSDAYS #2

MICAEL PART(AT)
March 18, 2018, 6pm at WTKB Studios.

AS IF FROM A SINGLE CAST

Michael Part's works begin with analytical observations and end with a lucid twist transforming objects. The process of thinking and doing materializes in different forms like photography, object and sculpture, utilizing processes ranging from molecular reactions to casting techniques. Part and Rauschmeier will collaborate for one week and present in a single night event. Couples* are welcome too.

2nd THURSDAYS

#1

SAMUEL FELDHANDLER (AT)
February 7, 2018, 6pm at WTKB Studios.

FAKE DANCES

The work Fake Dances builds on my approach to choreography through translating musical practices in dance, and focuses on jazz forms and the tool of the fake book (a collection of scores with only rudimentary information used by Jazz musicians). It is a collection of short dances, each consisting of a written theme and a framed improvisation. These dances follow each other, much like tunes follow each other during a jazz concert. The work brings set material and improvisation in dialogue and explores a space between composition and interpretation. Fake Dances can be presented in various constellations of performers and for this sharing, it will be presented as a solo dance.

GUESS WHAT

2nd THURSDAYS #4

TELLERVO KALLEINEN (FIN) & OLIVER KOCHTA-KALLEINEN (FIN/GER)
December 15, 2016, 8pm at WTKB Studios.

Supported by the Finland Institute in Germany

This artist couple is well known for their “complaints choir”, a project they ran in 2005 in Helsinki. Even though a ´signature work´ might help to gain public recognition, it isn’t necessarily an advantage when it comes to expectations which follow. Needless to say that for an artist couple the complexity of desire, labour and art production can turn out rather crispy in everyday life. Let´s see how they deal with it. Juren / Rauschmeier know what they talk about. Any family counsellor amongst you?

2nd THURSDAYS #3

Viktor Schlosser (DE)
December 1, 2016, 8pm at WTKB Studios.

Berlin based German photographer Viktor Schlosser is a typical representative of an outsider artist. Even though his work has never been exhibited broadly, his artistic practice addresses basic questions about art production like, for instance, the motivation or formal and contextual extrusion into reality or the meaning of the act itself. Not unlikely American photographer Vivian Maier (1926 – 2009) his works are enigmatic and sensual at the same time and make use of historical documentation. Don’t bother to complain should you miss this evening.

2nd THURSDAYS #2

Elizabeth Ward (AT/USA)
November 17, 2016, 8pm at WTKB Studios

The choreographer and dancer Elizabeth Ward works at the intersection of ballet and improvisation. She cooperated with DD Dorvillier, Miguel Gutierrez, Mårten Spångberg, Heather Kravas, Antonija Livingstone, Jennifer Lacey and Anne Juren, amongst others. We recently spoke about her roots in the United States of America and came up with the idea to speak about home and placelessness. The performance will link Georgia’s (USA) cultural heritage to urgent issues which reappear in the choreographer’s work.
